Fancy Schmancy Potting Bench

Sadly, the sideboard I found in the alley last week won't be making it into the house. I really couldn't figure out where I was going to put it! And so, it's going to start it's next phase of life as a sort of upmarket potting bench:

I managed to get most of my ceramic pots underneath it for winter storage, filled the side compartments with bags of grass seed and fertilizer, and looky! Room for my hand tools in the front drawers! Previously, these were scattered here and there throughout the garage.

There's almost, almost room in the garage for a car.

If you put some waterproof sturdy drawer liners in there, you might be able to keep it house worthy for the future. You never know.

Genius.

I've considered turning the secretary that once had a future as a bar and is now a mere microwave cart into a potting bench. Yours, though, is much nicer.

A car in the garage?!

You're messing with the rules of nature!

See? I told you cars don't belong in a garage. :) 30 years and I think mine saw the inside only a couple of year! Actually we did have a car in the garage close to 10 years. It was a 66 Mustang convertible Joanne's father bought. Needed restoration and he thought it would be a good "father son" project when Joanne's brother grew up. Weeeeelll . . it sat there, falling apart. Finally came the day when the gas tank was rusted through, battery dead and driver's side door held closed with wire. I sold it in a garage sale! New owner happily towed away. It's now fully restored, bright shiny red, several blocks away! Empty space, in garage, quickly filled up with more stuff. Which goes to show, cars don't belong in garages! :) Momlady

Looks nice! Good use for it, too.

That is the rockingest potting bench I've ever seen.

I got your package today and squealed like a 14 year old girl on a date with a Jonas Brother. Give your Mom an ENORMOUS hug for me.

Now that is a potting bench even Martha would be proud of....It is great.

Lol @ Jean and only those who have fancy schmancy potting benches have cars in their garage. I'll be glad when there is room for two cars on the back parking concrete area. Things keep appearing instead of being removed....sigh...

Nice potting bench. I might have called it... a tool chest... but it would've served the same purpose. Good re-use, for sure.
