Concrete Stepping Stone Mold

We've made tremendous progress this week in taking out trees and bushes that are past their prime and putting in new flower beds. The ultimate goal is to get rid of as much open grass lawn as possible and replace it with sustainable perennial beds. It won't be easy; because we're a corner lot, we have an awful lot of "front lawn." One of the things I'd like to do is to make stepping stone paths throughout the yard, but sheesh, those stones are pricey. At least for anything remotely interesting. Instead, I think I might try making my own.

I'm not in any great hurry, so this might be a good option. I found a number of molds on eBay that I liked that range from $5 to $18. Concrete itself is pretty cheap. By summer's end, I might have cranked out enough of these to be of some use.

I am particularly interested in these molds for tree rings:

We have, let's see, 1, 2, 3, 4...5? Is that right? ...trees in the parkway. It will take me all summer to create enough pavers, but the savings would maybe be worth it.

It's a great summer project and it'll look fantastic when you are finished
