Ted and I went on a B.A.D.C.* run a few days ago, varying the route somewhat to get a longer walk in. We spotted this garage, which I think is fabulous:
We had talked about just painting the garage door a non-white color, something earthy and muted. But why not use it as a canvas for some great art? Shine a coupla lights on it so folks driving by after dark can see it, too. Now, I have absolutely no talent for murals, but I live in a college town--surely there must be someone here who would like the chance to paint our garage.Or do you think the neighbors would hate us?

Would something so brightly colored look good with the gargoyle theme? I leave these kinds of questions to my wife usually. Not my strong suit.
Wowsers-- that's great! It reminds me of the psychedelic counting pin ball machine from the good old days of Sesame Street...
I would definitely do something different... and your neighbors would love it if it was done WELL and didn't stand out in a bad way. I would play off of your gargoyles...
I vote go with the gargoyle theme - maybe gray tones to look like stone will help lessen the impact of that large door - the white is just too great a contrast with the red brick. Student artists love that sort of job - sounds fun.

*Sigh* Ted read the post last night and said "Um, no mural." Phooey. I didn't really think he would go for it.
Something muted to match the gargoyles it is--I like the idea of gray tones.

There is a fence between us and the neighbors and I so want to paint it graffiti like. On our side of course. MIL who doen't get my artsy um.. quirky side would just die.
